Was always a fan of his. :(

Kenny Rogers, a longtime star of country music, died Friday night, according to a statement posted by his family. He was 81.

Known for such hits as “The Gambler,” “Lady,” “Islands in the Stream,” and “Lucille,” Rogers died peacefully at home in Sandy Springs, Ga., of natural causes at 10:25 p.m., the statement said.

A long story for another time, but I absolutely hated him when a certain song of his was released. I got a lot of grief over it.

When that one faded away, I really began to like and admire him. In the days of almost crazy entertainers, Kenny seemed a balanced, level-headed man.

May you Rest in Peace, Mr. Kenny Rogers.

Sure hated to see that this morning. I always enjoyed his music and he seemed like a pretty good guy as well. Dolly P was sure tore up this morning in her video she posted about it. RIP Gambler.
I still remember when this video came out. Extremely different from his standard music but it was like a cowboy video with a touch of Jim Henson special effects.

I was sorry to hear this too. My brother introduced me to Kenny's music when I was about 8 or 9. It was early stuff with the 5th Dimension. Sort of rock style.

Kenny Rogers and the First Edition and it was straight up psychedelic, at least “Just Dropped In” was.

Oh yeah, sorry about that.

I didn't know for a long time that Mickey Jones, the drummer in Doyle Hargraves band in Sling Blade was Kenny's drummer for awhile.

Two or three of the guys in that movie band are musicians.

Never got into his music all that much, but won't deny he was a great artist of his time.  Hope his family and friends find peace in their grief.

I had the opportunity to do a tour with him back in 1983. One of the nicest guys I ever met.

Then, there's the story with Lorrie Morgan... :leaving:
