Schools Providing Breakfast and Lunch to go for kids in many areas

We live right next to my kids' school. In our area in East TN schools are providing lunches TO GO  for any kids that show up between certain hours. At ours, no need to leave the car.

While we are not out of food, we just had our fridge die and lost a good bit of freezer stuff. We just got the replacement in today after waiting a few days, We got lucky we could get it delivered that fast., My wife has picked these up to limit her and the kids exposure while keeping fresh food coming in for them.

If you have a need check in your area, Lots are doing it for every kid in the household (school age or not).

I grew up on Free and Reduced lunches due to my parents' finances. I never complained about school food. Luckily my kids don't know what that is. I am still not too proud to make sure they keep variety and fresh food in their diet in these troubled times.

Many folks don't realize that there are a LOT of children who pretty much so don't eat except for the schools' free breakfast/lunch program. My old church ministered to a lot of children by giving them food to take home for the weekend. I can't imagine what they're doing with schools shut down. :(

EDIT: My daughter just told me that Rutherford and Davidson county schools are doing the same. :)

I remember my Mom's cousin who ran the high school cafeteria slipping certain kids brown bags of rolls to take home for the weekend. She knew how bad the families had it.
