One thing I agree on with the Libs is there are way too many people in the world. I remember in the 70's the WHO was really big on that message. But since the message didn't gain traction, it looked like it faded out and the median life span of Americans ticked up over time as Pharma made massive fortunes medicating the hell out of the boomers as they headed for the plot. Heres a new twist on the old war cry of W.H.O.  Maybe there on to something here?

"In early December, a German doctor and epidemiologist named Wolfgang Wodarg, who has been skeptical about the need for vaccines in other pandemics, teamed up with a former Pfizer employee to ask the European Medicines Agency (the European Union counterpart to the FDA) to delay the study and approval of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine.

One of their concerns was a protein called syncytin-1, which shares similar genetic instructions with part of the spike of the new coronavirus. That same protein is an important component of the placenta in mammals.

If the vaccine causes the body to make antibodies against syncytin-1, they argued, it might also cause the body to attack and reject the protein in the human placenta, making women infertile."

I've never heard any liberal say this. If anything, they would say they opposite.

Anyone here read the Dan Brown book Inferno? Spoiler alert.

A virus (as opposed to a vaccine) is ultimately released that will randomly make approximately 50% of the population sterile.  A more (I suppose) humane method of population control than what Thanos did by just randomly disintegrating 50% of the population.

The treehuggers have been saying this for as long as I can remember, and most of them lean way left.
Here’s an example

https://www.biologicaldiversity.org/programs/population_and_sustainability/climate/

They start off by saying we need a smaller carbon footprint as well as fewer feet.  Down about paragraph 19, the article talks about how fertility rates have slowed, but progress in this area has been hampered by reductions in family planning.  They inevitably argue that the US is the worst offender and the world is about to end.

Well, I guess a clarification is in order since I can see your point when viewed in basic terms. First, lets look at what they claim their goals are as per wiki.

"The WHO's broad mandate includes advocating for universal healthcare, monitoring public health risks, coordinating responses to health emergencies, and promoting human health and well being."

The "Universal Healthcare" part is the kicker here. Why should I pay for poor counties humping out tons of children that the "parents" KNOW they cant afford?  Thats a Liberal corner stone of a goal as well as health conscience folks shouldn't have to pay for those within the population that punish their bodies with cigarettes and tons of sugar & fatty foods that ends up putting them in hospitals with no insurance. But I digress.... Lets take a short look at the way the US felt about Communists in the 70's. It was America's #1 enemy to Life , Liberty & the pursuit of happiness that qualified as our Freedoms from Government oppression & control. Back in those days if you mentioned universal health care for all, you automatically were a card caring Commy that ran parallel to much of the Liberal thinking of the day. So, universal health care was not openly discussed here within the good ol boy politics of the day. Instead, W.H.O. made alot of noise about the food supply would run out with the population growth trend for one and the lack of medical anything with in the exploding 3rd world populations. This called for the need of some form of population controls. Various forms of free birth control was & is a corner stone of that effort that blossomed into organizations such as Planed Parenthood .... (code for free abortion houses). Most informed folks would agree planed parenthood is not exactly a conservative based organization. I could go on but at some point you can connect the dots.

Nixon was pro universal health care in the ‘70s. Had Watergate not brought him down he probably would have passed it.

For a long time it was pretty bipartisan - let’s say Truman through Clinton with a few notable exceptions in there.

So six months after the election the COVID emergency seems to be winding down rapidly. Seems that I read some predictions that such would be the case.

That's going to be the case now that half the country has had the vaccine. We'd probably wind it down even faster if 30% wouldn't refuse to get the shot.

You forgot to add that now that most of us have been sterilized the "Summer of Free Love" has commenced.

Yeah but my wife isn't sure what to make of my 3rd nipple I grew. If I look close enough it seems to resemble Bill Gates eye.

What if that 30% has antibodies and doesn’t need a vaccine?

I had my second round of vaccine yesterday. I woke up in the middle of the night freezing my butt off. I had to pull the bedspread up over my blanket just to feel  warmer. Then the rest of the night I went back and forth between hot and cold, and I couldn't sleep. Today I'm in a fog because of no sleep and just feel like crap. It is hands down the worst reaction that I've ever had to ANY vaccine. 🤒

But here's the rub: It was the second round of the shingles vaccine that the VA gives four months apart from the first round.

How do we know they do? How long are the antibodies good for?  I don't really care at this point what people do but the reality is that the fastest way of getting back to normal is if we vaccinate most of the country. I've already decided it's going to be a normal summer for me. My gym dropped the mask requirement this week so that's a win.

Supposedly seven or eight months, but it’s none of my business if someone else has antibodies.  How long is a vaccine good for?

I don't remember the shingles vaccine giving me any trouble.

Because the unvaccinated population can keep the virus in circulation.

This has recently been a problem with anti-vaxxers and measles outbreaks. It has also been happening with polio in other countries.

If enough of the population does not get vaccinated for a particular virus, then it can hang around and pose a threat to people who can’t have the vaccine (like the very young).

The young and healthy don’t need a vaccine. They will just test positive and be done with it, like my kids. The vaccine carries it’s own risks

First of all, I think you have Universal Health care confused with medicare. VERY different plans.  As for Repubs/Conservatives supporting the passage of it? This article would suggest otherwise.
