Facebook is a great way to keep in touch with a bunch of people you hoped you'd never see again.

Exactly.

What do you suppose TGO is?

Well I guess it is in a way. But here and on other forums we share common interests and after a while you kinda get to know folks. Its not like laying your life out to complete strangers. Besides, I'm careful about what I choose to post.

I totally agree! But I will add cell phones to that as well.

Yep.  Be scared.  Be VERY scared . . .

What, you aren't scared enough?  With the riots, burning and looting and the constant "death sentence" pronouncements for the China Virus from the MSM, I am surprised the suicide rates haven't killed more than the virus.  I think I'll continue to not wear a mask unless I have to absolutely have to and just take normal precautions like I have been.

It's time I actually watch this movie but from what I've heard it could be a documentary of the last 4 years.

When it was released 14 years ago, it was nothing more than an absurdly over the top laugh generator.  Now, you'll think it was an instructional video being followed very closely.

The rest of the year promises to be grim, if those numbers hold up.

Looking around at the general group behavior I see, coupled with either largely idiotic or lax guidance from the top echelons of government (both federal and state), I have no reason to think they won't.

Unlike influenza, this baby obviously ain't "seasonal". Although of course since the flu largely is, having both this winter is gonna take a toll that having merely either one would not.

I have my doubts that even when a truly effective vaccine is approved (and of course actually universally available) that it will actually cut the overall infection rate by more than 50% in the US at least for a good long while. Although it hopefully will nix the majority of the Covid death rate for seniors, as we are the most likely to actually take it, just as with the yearly influenza shot.

I do hope this year's flu vaccine proves to be among the best matched ones, especially important this year.

Highly doubt it.

Assuming those are valid stats, I don't what that purports to show exactly as far as this topic?

Also, I see no indication of time frame on that breakdown?

Scroll to the bottom; Stats are from the CDC, as of Feb 2020.

Assuming those deaths are correctly attributed to the China Virus (big assumption), that makes it the 6th leading cause of death so far, right above hypertension (high blood pressure), and under Alzheimer's.

Well, Covid simply not mentioned at all. CDC become Flat Earthers or something, it just doesn't exist? Maybe it's broken down into other prevailing causes, like lung or whatever? Dunno, would have to look at previous year to compare. No idea.

Also, reason I asked about time span, is that if YTD, then they're showing about 45K for the year? (quick eyeballing), but in 2018, TN had 71K deaths (last official state data count), and even without Covid would assume this would be same and likely a bit more due to population increase this year. But say just the 71K again, that would mean 25K more just in next 9 weeks or so? That doesn't seem to compute.

So all in all, dunno. All I can do is report what the state of TN officially releases. Which I guess is what CDC gets also?

edit: see next post, date didn't sink in.

Oh, wait a min, now totally confused, didn't catch that.

So again, what time frame is that? If YTD, 45K deaths in just 2 months? That ain't right. 45K deaths for whole previous 12 months? That can't be right either.

Plus that would be almost totally pre-Covid stats too.

Therein is the problem. It seems to me that the "data" is being put out in so many different formats it's meaningless.

Surely you know the old saying.... " There are lies, damn lies, and statistics "

Yeah, think I'm gonna just give up on this one.

edit: That's why I'm posting just the TN death rate, a month to month comparison I've not found anywhere else.

Of course, that cause of death can be debated too (and often is from the Right), but the death total is reported by TN daily, and our state gummit certainly has little of any kind of "blue" agenda.

I've been keeping an eye on Shelby County. For a while there active cases were dropping daily and about a month ago it was down to around 1300. But its started to rise again just as predicted.

Current stats:

Active cases: 2217

Deaths: 556
