Marine Magnum Question

Does anyone know if the Remington Marine Magnum comes with barrels other than 18"?

I swear that I've seen some where the barrel and magazine tube are the same lenght, which would mean the barrel is about 18 1/2". I have also seen some folks advertising them as 18 1/2" barrels, but not sure if they were mistaken. Remington's website only mentions the 18" barrel.

I know the MM has been around for a while, but does anyone know if there have been any changes/improvments in the newer versions vs the older versions?

I'm in the market for a Marine Magnum, but I'd like to know my options before spending the money.

I too have seen the MM with a barrel and mag tube that are flush. Don't know when they made them. I Google Image searched and found this one.

Don't know why they would change to a shorter barrel or longer mag tube.

If I'm not mistaken, Remington doesn't even offer an 18" barrel anymore, they are all 18.5". I wonder if the reference on their website was just a generic description of the size.

Yea, I knew I wasn't crazy, but I can't find anyone who knows for sure, and it doesn't look like getting an actual person from Remington on the phone is going to be an easy task.

I found this auction for a marine magnum with the black coating, it shows an 18" barrel but it is flush with the mag tube.

That's the newer XCS model. Still saying 18" barrel. Maybe they shortened the mag tube? Most MM's I've seen have a capacity of 6+1, but that ad says 7+1, still having the 18" barrel.

This seems correct.

I have Express Synthetic 7 round (6+1).

Shows "18" inch barrel under specs on Remington site.

Actually measures 18.5".

I have read on other forums that Rem actually did make an 18.0" barrel in the past, but all have been 18.5" for some time now (don't know for how long).

So certainly, these days, as you suggest, the "18" inch listed on their site does indeed seem to be a generic description.
