XD Thumb Safety

I would really like to get a XD 45 4", but I do not want a thumb safety.

Is the thumb safety an option on the new models or is it going to be standard on all XDs?

My friend just bought a XD this weekend and it didn't have a thumb saftey. Just the back strap deal like a 1911.

Only the XDMs have multiple back straps.

It's unclear whether you can get XDM with manual safety in any caliber model.

In pre-XDM models, only the .45 service and tactical models offer optional manual safety.

Springfield has a "custom" shop that may be able to put manual safety on certain models not offered as stock, not sure about that.
