I currently own many pistols by Beretta, Glock, H&K, Ruger, Sig, S&W, Walther and one lonely Taurus PT-92 I've had since around '92. I have owned it the longest of my current pistol collection. If I had to guess, I'd say it has in excess of 5,000 rounds through it without any troubles at all. Is it my favorite? No. Is it the best example of quality in my collection? Absolutely not. I kept it when it came down to it and a Berretta 92 purely because the safety was lower on the frame rather than high on the slide as is the Beretta’s. I was young and I'm not 100% sure I'd make the same decision again today but honestly there is not any difference in the fit and finish between the Taurus and the Berretta I ended up selling prior to the birth of my daughter in '93. I have heard for several years now how the Taurus customer service sucks and quite frankly cannot argue the point either way as I've never had to contact them.

I can say that a good friend has a “big ole chromed” PT-100 that he has had for 3 or 4 years now and the only complaint he has ever had is that it is hard to see the front sight in the sunlight because of the shine of the chrome on top of the barrel. His, as well as mine, has been nothing but reliable and frankly I'd trust my life to either. Last I saw you could pick one up for a little over $300, brand new! You can definitely spend more and find a higher quality gun on the market but I personally feel Taurus Revolvers as well as the PT series of Beretta clones are hard to beat in terms of value.
