This is an older story, but with the holidays upon us that often means turning to a ride sharing service to get from place to place, from parties to home, etc.  I tend to vote with my dollars and assume some of you might as well.  Maybe call a taxi instead.

The ride-hailing company Lyft announced Friday morning that it will provide free rides to students attending the March for Our Lives rallies against gun violence, which are being held in cities around the country at the end of this month.

In a statement posted on Twitter, Lyft co-founders John Zimmer and Logan Green wrote:

We believe there is something seriously wrong when the threat of gun violence is so frequent and real throughout our country. And like many, we are inspired by your leadership.

We’d be honored to support your work with free Lyft rides to March for Our Lives rallies across the country on March 24 (please remember, anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.)

Uber will not be offering free trips to March for Our Lives, according to an Uber representative.

I did not realize Lyft had made such a stupid move.  I’m not much of a user of this kind of service, but I certainly will not use Lyft. Thanks for posting!

Hadn't heard that, but we had no problem taking Lyft 2 days running to/from the NRA convention in Indy last year (where Trump was speaking).
Just because corporate makes stupid decisions, I don't see why the little guy needs to suffer....the drivers were nice and very appreciative. In our experience Lyft beats Uber service-wise.

You could always take the free Lyft ride then hire Uber to pick you up and take you home. Maybe even protest the anti gunners when you get there.

I’ve never used either one of those apps. But I’ve often wondered how much longer taxi’s can survive. (Should I ever need one)

Well, I drive for Uber, I never heard about any free rides like that. I'm sure I would have received a notice.

You either didn't get the memo, or these links are all wrong.
