What "NPS gun ban" is the GOA talking about?

I haven't read the whole thing in detail, but I believe their point is.

You have to have a permit to carry in a National Park. There is land now, that is not part of a National Park, where in some places you may not need a permit to carry. But the NPS is trying to get that land making it part of the National Park and therefore restricting those that could have carried without a permit before on that land.

Is that about it?

The new regulation only says that the firearm must be concealed, and must be carried according to state law. Nothing about a permit is mentioned. Seems to me that, if a state allows concealed carry without a permit, you would still be able to carry on DOI land.

Open carry seems to be the only thing prohibited. Maybe I am missing something, though.

You may be right, but....

AFAIK only VT and maybe AK allow concealed carry without a permit.

Again I admit I haven't thoroughly read the GOAs statement or the bill, but not sure I see the same urgency that they do.

It's a bit of a stretch to call this an "anti-gun" bill.

If this is an anti gun bill it is indeed mild as to compared to the assault weapons ban
