revolver night sites

I've been looking online for some night sites for a Rossi 851 but don't see any. Does anyone know any that would work but aren't necissarily designed for one? I'm pretty sure it's a pinned front site and the rear site is screwed on. I'll try to get a picture tomorrow if anyone thinks it will help.

Try XS sights. Thy make sights for Rugers, and possibly others. If they don't make them specifically for the Rossi, ask a gunsmith if a certain model can b "made" to fit your revolver.

I'm not trying to stir anything here. I came to a realization last year though that night sights have some issues. I have a G22 with Trijicons on it. The first one I got, from Joe at Hero Gear, had a burnt out dot on it. I wanted my tacticool in full operation so went back and we traded it out as it he was busy and its a pain to swap them. I wish I had not bothered Joe about it now. Looking over the sights in the dark, to see them as three clear distinct dots, it has to be very dark, so dark that you can see nothing clearly in front of you! As the G22 has a rail on it, I have attached a TLR-1 light on it. Well, turn the light on and you can see everything very clearly in the dark, except the green glowing dots, which you no longer need. So unless the target is going to glow or be lit in such a way that your still very much in the dark, they don't do much for you. I'm not going to bother with looking for them on any future purchases. It does help me see where the gun is at night on the night stand, that is a good thing!

Again, I'm not saying they wouldn't be useful to someone under other conditions. I just wanted to add some thought to the discussion.

This revolver is destined for night stand duty. Initially I wanted to get a light but there is no rail and I figured it would be easier to change the sights then rig a light to it somehow.

Like the other poster, I have sort of gotten away from night sights. On semi's with a rail, I like either a light or laser. You might want to do a little searching on some of the methods of using a light with a handgun. The Harries or Rogers methods are equally appropriate whether using a revolver or semi-auto.

I'm familiar with using a light with a handgun, but I'm trying to set this gun up so I can grab it and not have to worry about grabbing anything else. Or have the option of handing it to someone and not have to worry about teaching them a flashlight technique.

I think if I were to do it over again, I would still get night sights, but........I've noticed that in a hurry or rushed situation sometimes you can line up three dots but the front sight may not be the middle dot if you don't have your standard grip.
