Great news!  Very happy to hear he won't need grafts.

Tell him that scars are good conversation starters. Girls always want to hear the story. ;)

And he can make it as exciting as he'd like. Racecars, anyone?

Thank you for the update, I'm glad your grandson is doing well.

Hoping the recovery goes as well as can be in a case like this.  I know the poor kid has a lot ahead of him.  The risk of opioid addiction would be worrying me the most.  It's an unavoidable thing given the pain needing to be managed, but scary all the same.

Great to hear of the good progress so far.   Highly understandable with his concern over his face.   Hopefully he can focus on his recovery wound care so that he has the best healing possible.     He's still on my prayer list.

Grandson developed a bad infection last week. Was taken beck to the hospital for further treatment, but got to come home yesterday on 2 kinds of antibiotics, and a new treatment regiment.

His mom, and caregiver, is totally emotionally and physically exhausted. We have been helping her as much as possible, but my wife had hip replacement surgery yesterday. We think he picked up the infection from being in the hospital, initially.

I'm sorry to hear about this setback. I hope it's a minor one in the end.

Caregiver fatigue is a pretty significant hurdle, and can be especially difficult when the caregiver is also a close family member (kind of a double whammy). Does TN offer any resources that might help alleviate some of her stressors, even temporarily?

Sorry to hear about the infection. Hospitals are notorious for that and big burns are very easily infected.  I'm sure his mom is spent by now, though it can be hard to ask for help. Where are they located?

If they have major medical be sure they check with them as most offer support and counseling for things like this. Burnout can happen very quickly. Especially for mom who is probably in hyperdrive with fear, worry, etc.

One day at a time!

What wonderful news!   I have worked with burn patients and they are always courageous.  And Grayfox is right:  the girls will love the stories about the scars!
