What to do with my SBR (AR).

Last year I sold the .300 bulk upper I had on it to fund something else. It’s been sitting ever since and I’m ready to do something with it. I loved the novelty of shooting sub rounds through a suppressor on it but I was just that...novelty.

Are there any calibers it thee that could take advantage of the shorter barrel and suppressor better than the .300 blk?  I do still have some interest in running full power loads through it but would want a 9” barrel. I had a 10.5 last a time and always found myself wishing it was shorter.

If you had a complete SBR’d lower what would you do with it?

I don’t know what you mean by “better” than .300Blk. Isn’t short barrel, sub sonic what that round is for?

If I was going to suppress something, I would think I would want the best round I could get that was sub sonic off the shelf. .45ACP?

Pistol Caliber Carbine is also on the radar. I’ve never thought to do a .45ACP but have considered 9mm.  I just didn’t like the cost of ammo on the blackout.  It was fun to plink around with the sub ammo but not at that price.

Now a subsonic 458 is a hammer.

I don't have a 458 but I have to imagine 300 BLK is cheaper per round that 458

Blackout is designed to burn all powder in a 9 inch barrel.  I don't know of any other cheaper cartridges that can do the same.

$1.25 a round for 458 is about the cheapest you can find. Reloading it sucks, and really isn’t much cheaper. More stuck cases than I’ve ever experienced with any other round. Cleaned, lubed, talked nice to, doesn’t seem to matter The only benefit really is tailoring the bullet weight and the ability to control the ballistics of it.

Glad to know I’m not the only one that has had more 458 stuck cases than all other calibers combined!

Until I started playing with 458’s, I used to laugh at stuck case removal tools. And then...well let’s just say they should be included with a set of dies and anytime you order new brass it should include a hallmark card that says “it’s not you, it’s me”
