You know, if they want to buy my Palmetto State AR they need to let me set the price.

But, seriously, there is no way this gets through the Senate.  Just more Dem stupidity, giving the conservative base more reason to get to the polls.  It almost seems like they want to lose, you'd think there is an inside conservative minded Dem group feeding them bad advice on purpose.

Unless they flip the Senate, retain a majority in the House and gain the White House. Then there is a very good likelihood that a ban and buy back of so called assault weapons will happen, along with other more draconian anti 2A laws. Welcome to the rule of the Blue States and their lack of freedom.

I watched the House committee hearing on the bill yesterday and at one point, I realized that I'm sick of fighting this.   Just pass it already.  I'm done.

Come on, Cap, you can do better than that.  Hang in there.  Wearing us down is their only path to success.  If even half of American gun owners would stand up and say "No you won't," all the congresscreatures pushing this nonsense would slither back under their rocks.

Since you're throwing in the towel, that little weasel cohen will appreciate your vote next year.

I cannot afford to lose any money I might have invested in guns that might fall under this. Beyond rights, that in and of itself keeps me opposing this

I didn't say that I would do nothing.  And because of the current situation, I won't say what I really want in a public forum, but let them pass it.

Not throwing in the towel.  And I will never vote for Cohen.

From the wording, it looks like there's a grandfather clause...not that it makes it any better.  The big thing is that we can no longer buy or even sell or standard capacity magazines.  That's the part that chaps me as well.    This is going to be like Clinton all over again if it passes...ARs are going to skyrocket...it's stupid...

Introduced in House (02/15/2019)

Assault Weapons Ban of 2019

This bill makes it a crime to knowingly import, sell, manufacture, transfer, or possess a semiautomatic assault weapon (SAW) or large capacity ammunition feeding device (LCAFD).

The prohibition does not apply to a firearm that is (1) manually operated by bolt, pump, lever, or slide action; (2) permanently inoperable; (3) an antique; or (4) a rifle or shotgun specifically identified by make and model.

The bill also exempts from the prohibition the following, with respect to a SAW or LCAFD:

  • importation, sale, manufacture, transfer, or possession related to certain law enforcement efforts, or authorized tests or experiments;
  • importation, sale, transfer, or possession related to securing nuclear materials; and
  • possession by a retired law enforcement officer.

The bill permits continued possession, sale, or transfer of a grandfathered SAW, which must be securely stored. A licensed gun dealer must conduct a background check prior to the sale or transfer of a grandfathered SAW between private parties.

The bill permits continued possession of, but prohibits sale or transfer of, a grandfathered LCAFD.

Newly manufactured LCAFDs must display serial number identification. Newly manufactured SAWs and LCAFDs must display the date of manufacture.

The bill requires law enforcement agencies to be notified when a prohibited person attempts to purchase a grandfathered SAW.

It also allows a state or local government to use Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program funds to compensate individuals who surrender a SAW or LCAFD under a buy-back program.

As others have said; it won’t make it through the senate. And even if it did trump won’t sign it and they certainly wouldn’t have the votes to override his veto.

Even if all that happened, I don’t think a Federal ban can survive a SCOTUS challenge. They might stand quite on a state doing it; but not the Feds.

I made the mistake of turning on the news yesterday while I worked. This is ridiculous. Nany Pelosi has fallen to the socialists (short fall).

Quote

"I said, 'You're not getting the [$1 billion]. I'm leaving in six hours. If the prosecutor is not fired, you're not getting the money.' Well, son of a b****. He got fired," Biden said.

Biden doesn’t deny saying that, but they want to impeach Trump for asking the Ukrainian President to investigate it?? :panic:

Dang man, you can’t make this stuff up.

They realize Joe is a liability and this is an indirect way of eliminating him.

They are claiming Warren has passed Biden. None of them have a snowballs chance of beating Trump. That’s why I don’t think we have seen the person that will be running against Trump…yet. Mainstream Democrats don’t want to be socialists….I don’t think. Many of them work for a living. This is crazy.

Not signing is not a veto.   And you think a democrat from New York won't sign anti gun bills?   Trump has already shown he doesn't care about guns.   His actions on this are certainly no guarantee.

Trump will veto an AR ban should it ever make it to him. Unlike any other choice that has any possibility of being elected.

What makes you think that?   Other something he may have said, he has not DONE anything to make someone expect him to do the right thing.

Pleeeese… we have been through this too many times before. To list all the things he has said he would do and all the things he has done would take pages and pages, and its been done here before.

What’s your list Bump stocks? That was a commonsense decision caused by someone at ATF that couldn’t do their job properly and had to be sat in the corner. And if you rule Trump out; who are you going to pick? (Be real though; it must be someone that has a chance)

after the shooting where the kid used a silencer, he publicly said he would explore going after those, no-one needs them.   Why wouldn't he say the same thing here?   Especially if the left uses the guy from the hearing yesterday again.  He will make the argument that black guns need to be regulated by the NFA, Trump will agree and sign.  Trump had the opportunity to pursue the HUSH act when he was elected but neglected because he DOESNT CARE ABOUT GUNS.  His son may, but its clear that he has zero influence.

As for the election, I will most likely write in a name for the presidential ticket.   I will not vote for the lesser of two evils.  I won't cast a vote for a man or woman that I believe will continue to harm this country.   If a libertarian candidate is available on my ticket that I believe is the correct choice, I will cast my vote for him or her.   Otherwise, I'll write in whoever I think is a better option.

There will only be two possibilities; a Republican and a Democrat. One isn’t a “gun guy” and may have some ideas you may or may not like. The other wants to outlaw AR’s and all other semi-auto’s and take any you may have.

Voting so you can feel good about yourself, writing in someone that can't win, or not voting at all will impact gun legislation. There isn’t anything you could possibly do in your life to protect your gun rights more, than go vote for Trump.

You have a blind faith in Trump that I do not.   And its not feeling good about myself.   Its morality.  I cannot knowingly elect someone that is not aligned with me morally.
