It's got your full name, birth year, city, county, zip code, issue and expiration date of your HCP.

It's been updated as of January 1, 2010.

Seems to me that the criminal element could possibly use the information to deduce who has firearms, that they could possibly steal...but, only if the low lifes have the testicular fortitude to attempt to break into a permit holders home, and risk getting shot full of holes!

Mine used to be in the data base, but fell off on my permits renewal date. Must be programed to do that. Evidently, they don't know who has renewed and who hasn't.

Well you can search by zip code and it will give you a lost of all in that zip code.

So you don't have to know a name.

My buddy told me there was a website that showed the public who all has their permit. Thats about stupid to me. I think that should be private. What's your ideas?

Dont worry about this stuff. It is simply the Memphis Commercial Appeal's pitiful attempt to intimidate gun owners. It may work to some small extent in Memphis; because the city is a sewer of corruption; but i dont see it working anywhere else. I think someone should put up a database of dorks, socialists, communists, concubines, guttersnipes, anti-gun polititians and bureaucrats; and other trash who favor this stuff ---. It aint gonna happen because of their "right to privacy". It just shows the morally bankrupt and hyprocritical mindset of this trash. It's ok for them to publish your info; because they presume to take up the mantle of superiority and moral authority --hehehe. It aint ok for the opposition to publish their info; because we are rustic children, clinging to an archaic doctrine of individual responsibility (...translation: we dont necessarily look to government and elites for protection...); or bufoonish serfs to be ordered around and slandered by this bunch of overbearing trash at will. The hyprocasy is stunning and self-evident to anyone who takes the time to think about such things. That is why the print newspaper business in many places is on life support.

Old Joe McCarthy published the names of the "undesirables" in the fifties and it worked pretty well. His problem was that he and his senate consul were on the list too. By the way, the children of these "undesirables" are still bitching about this "atrocity" some 60 years later. They are, for the most part, congregated on the left coast, the big cities, the northeast, and academia, entertainment, and news enterprizes. The rest of them are still working for the US Government (...in the State Department and the current Demorat administration in power...); i think --hehehe.

Be proud to be counted among those who have decided to be serious about self defense and defense of others in your circle of influence.

Be proud your name is counted among those who have a backbone and dont depend of government to protect you (..they wont and cant anyway...). Remember, there was a time when gun ownership was the norm; not the exception. I am reminded of Winston Churchill's great words: "...You are known just as well by your detractors as you are your admirers. ..." Who cares what this bunch of trash thinks?!!

Dont worry about criminals using a database to target you. They dont like being shot either. Worry about the polititians who think you are riff-raff to be pushed around and serfs to be told what to do. If they disarm you, you will become a serf.

For a little while, when the Commercial Appeal's Database first came out, it included your street address. In fact, you could search by street. Now you have use a phonebook or one of the online people finder sites to do the same.

I mentioned in an earlier post that my name had been removed from the database around the time my permit expired. I noticed last night that they have updated the info to include everyone with a current permit "as of 1/1/2010," so I've been relisted.

Would be interesting to know if they still drop your name when your permit expires. The way it's worded on the web site makes me think they still do.

If you leave all the fields blank and just hit enter, it returns every name in the database.

What our state NEEDS to do is make it illegal to publish the information like this. You could get names, but you would have to submit a request to get them. It would stop databases like this AND if criminals were targeting HCP's for robbery, you might notice it because of the large amount of requests they would put in. I don't see our driver's licenses up on a searchable database like this, so why should HCP's be there?

What to do? It's hard to be anonymous in the internet age isn't it.

Find out who the editor is, or lets say the whole staff at the newspaper, or start with the editorial board and ownership.

Editorial Board Information & News from The Commercial Appeal (Memphis, TN)

1. Look up their address on Free People Search by ZabaSearch!

2. Look them up on facebook.

3. Search facebook for same last name and find spouses, children, children's schools, ect.

4. Give them a call at home and ask to speak to their spouse. No threats, but you might just want to say "I wanted to tell your husband/wife insert name personally that I feel threatened by your spouses publishing of my name in a HCP database online?

5. Ask their spouse or adult child how they feel to have a stranger knowing about their business.

6. Have any of these persons been a defendant in a legal proceeding (does anyone know how to search for this?)

7. Let them know what you think about what they did.

Again, not threats but questions:

Do you think it is wrong for me to protect my family?

Why would the Commercial Appeal print this in a database?

Do you every worry about your family?

Do you feel harassed?

Do you own a firearm?

Has any member of your extended family been arrested or convicted of a violent crime?

Maybe you can tape your calls (be sure tell them it's "one the record") and post them here for laughs. Try to call at a decent hour or during business hours. *67 blocks your outbound number *82 reverses the block. Be a journalist. Ask the erudite geniuses at the Communist Appeal direct questions and have some fun. The damage is done on our side, we cant put the genie back in the bottle so we might as well have some fun.

Id like to get this whole database for personal use. Imagine a post card mailer to all of the HCP holders in my county to end our local ban on no guns in parks. This saw cuts both ways.
