I was asked by a female coworker this morining if i knew abou the new law going into effect in june. She said there would be a 5% tax per shell/bullet and you had to have a gun registered in that caliber or gauge in order to purchase such ammo. I told her it was news to me she said it had to be true because her dad told her about it. Is there any truth to this rumor?

No, there is no truth to that. No law has been passed that would require any of that.

wow...

We have heard that rumor for several weeks. I hate rumors like that, but at the same time its keeping everyone in the gun buisness very busy these days.

The story keeps changing with the telling.

Due to rumor, ammo is unavailable and more expensive when you can find it, and the price of firearms continues to grow.
This is so true, the price of a G-26 has gone up $20.00 in the last week at the gun shop I goto. And ammo good luck finding that.

It reminds me of last summer here in Nashville when rumors of gasoline shortages led everyone who had 3/4 of a tank of gas to go fill up every time they found a station with fuel. By the time those who had no fuel got there, the gas was gone.

All because of rumors . . .

Meanwhile, drivers were out of gas but gasoline distributors got rich and the price of fuel went up because it was in short supply.

I frankly wonder if arms and ammo suppliers are feeding these rumors just a bit because it makes them more money . . . and the operators of gun stores tired because of the onslaught of people.

While I understand the sentiment you are trying to make an analogy to, it is incorrect. The gas shortage was very real caused not by rumor, but by a hurricane in Houston, the main supplier to our pipeline running from the gulf to Georgia and Tennessee.

What it did cause was panic and the shortage was made worse by the people topping off their tanks constantly. However, there was a very real shortage of gas and the panic was caused not knowing when that pipeline would be full of fuel again.

Well needless to say there would not have been a shortage and gas would not have shot up to $5 a gallon if there wasn't a rush. I doubt the issue with the supplier would have impacted us anywhere near that bad.

But the price of gas almost doubled before the hurricane hit the coast. How was the pipeline hurt before it hit? And all the news I heard said no damage to the pipeline.

Gas stations are the devil.

OMG I heard giant man eating plants have taken over the state house and are going to give us restaurant carry, but they are against park carry being plants and all.

They also said they are gonna do an assault weapons ban, but in reverse! Apparently you can only carry a full auto on a Blackhawk tactical sling the third Thursday of every month! You can't carry anything small than an M4 carbine!

The plant that is controlling your mind wouldn't look like this would it?

I thought the ammo shortage started with Russia invading Georgia, and the folks around here weren't gonna let 'em go any further than that.. :koolaid:
