M1 Carbine prices

The M1 Carbine like all others have gone through the roof but bargains are still out there if you are lucky I think today was my day:D I found one at the flea market and think I got a good deal. I dont know what it would go for at a show right now though so I was wondering if someone could give me an educated guess at the worth. I have a National Postal Meter in the 151xxxx range has a Buffalo Arms 43' barrel and P marked stock. I just got home with it and have not taken it apart to see the other markings yet, but will do that in a bit and get it cleaned up a bit as it seems to have been sitting for a while and is covered in a fair bit of dust. OK in your opinion as every body has one is it better to leave them as found or try to trade or buy parts to make all parts match the reviever as put out by the factory. I kinda like to leave them as is because that was how they were I guess as they were protecting our guys. I know parts got mixed up alot as they had the community cleaning barrel and would take them down and put the parts in to soak and then pick out said part that fit sometimes to put them back together. What cha think brother.

Off the top of my head they are 500 to 600 bucks from CMP.

People ask 800 on up at gun shows for them.

All that really matters is if it is in good mechanical condition with original GI issue parts and is a good shooter.

Rack grade is $479 and Service grade is $575 on a Nation Postal Meter from CMP.

Good luck with it they are a lot of fun to shoot.

I think I read something about the CMP being in Anniston AL. ( is that spelled wrong) how far down onto bamer is that from Knoxville.

Anniston is roughly 250 miles (about 4 hours) from Knoxville. It's about 60 miles east of Birmingham.

Newport to Anniston is about 280 miles. That's according to google maps so there are probably some shortcuts. But before you drive down there are some requirements to buy from CMP. Nothing major but here they are:

Yes, and you can submit all your paperwork and be approved for purchase before you drive down there.

Yes, you can take it home with you but you'll have to pay sales tax or they can ship what you pick out to your front door. Depending on what you get having it shipped is cheaper than pay the tax. C&R rules don't really have anything to do with as they do not apply to CMP.

CMP is an organization created by Congress. They do not play by the same rules FFL dealers do. You can pick it up or they will ship to any state (including CA).

As stated you don’t need a C&R; it will just help with one of the requirements.

The only one on their list that's not a high school ROTC program is Volunteer at the John Sevier range, which seems to take a while to get into?

Just get a membership with the GCA (Garand Collectors Association) its 20 or 25 a year and you get a magazine. It qualifies for the requirement.

Oh yeah. It takes all the patience I can muster not go to the estore and place yet another order for surplus '06 ammo or send in the order form for another rifle goody.

I signed on with the Voluteer Rifle & Pistol Club (VRPC) @ John Sevier range about this time last year to get my club creds. Did not know about GCA counting at that time. ORSA out in Oak Ridge is another option. Joining VRPC (ORSA a bit higher) is gonna cost more that GCA but members don't pay range fees or check in at the front office when you go shoot. Other things like Sporting Clays and Skeet are discounted.

No more pics stored here due to bandwidth and storage limitations. Photobucket is popular. Many people here and there use it. It's free but there are other ones too. If it makes you feel any better I just Googled my photobucket name and got no hits.
