Gunsmith for semi-auto barrel fitting in Rutherford/Wilson Co area?

Recommended Posts

Recently acquired an LE trade-in Sig P226 in 40.  Shoots wonderfully for a $320 gun!!  My dream gun has always been a P226 in 9mm as a suppressor host, but we know how much that would cost new.  Especially with a threaded barrel.

After extensive research, I decided on a BarSto semi-fit threaded 40 to 9mm conversion barrel.  Per their description, about 75% of the time, they'll drop in with no fitting required, but no such luck for me.  I can "click" the barrel into place in the slide with a little thumb pressure, and it takes slight pressure to press it out.  Also, can't get the slide with barrel on the frame.  I'm guessing the barrel lug is hitting the locking block.

At first I thought I'd try fitting it myself, but after watching youtube videos and reading several sites/threads, I'd gladly pay $100 or so to have someone fit it for me as opposed to taking a chance on ruining a $300 barrel.

Two questions:

  • Any idea for the "average" cost to fit a semi-fit barrel?
  • Does anyone have a gunsmith in the Wilson County or Rutherford County area they'd use for this?

Thanks for any replies.

I'd settle for an average gunsmith if anyone knows any in Rutherford/Wilson counties.  Anyone?

Or maybe someone who builds 1911s.  I think they often require fitting.

I can start asking around at gunshops, but I'm sure they'd recommend their guy/friend.  Seems like several have someone that rotates to different shops during the week.  I rather have some real world recommendations, assuming anyone has them.
