Mossberg Shockwave

I bought a Mossberg Shockwave today and am pretty excited about it. I've seen mixed reviews about them but mostly positive ones. Does anyone on here own one? If so, what are your thoughts on it? I got the 18.5" barrel version. I had originally wanted the 14" one but didn't do my research on their different barrel lengths when I bought mine. I assumed they were only one length but they aren't. Maybe I can buy the shorter barrel and magazine tube if they sell them if I really want the shorter version.

I had one gifted to me.  It's probably not something that I would have ever purchased for myself.  It took a little getting used to but I really like it.  Hard to beat for a house gun imo.  Also it's the first Mossberg I've ever owned.  I've always been a Remington guy.  The location of the Mossberg safety seems more ergonomicly friendly.

What's the recoil like? I'm looking at getting the mini shells for home defense. I ordered the adapter needed to accommodate the ahells

I didn't think that it was bad at all running light birdshot.  I ran some hotter OO through it and it was noticeably more, but still manageable.

Being a lefty I have always appreciated the safety location on the Mossbergs. Those shockwaves look like they would be a great truck gun too. A shotgun would complement the AR and pistol in there should one stumble across an impromptu 3 gun match downtown.

I got the 12 ga. shockwave about a year and a half ago. It is fun to shoot, but it does have a respectable recoil with  2 3/4" shells. Forget the 3" shells. I have never tried the mini shells but they would have much less recoil, but they are expensive. I just stick with the cheap 2 3/4" shells and blast away. Have fun with it.

Congrats on the gun buy. I gave my grandson a Mossy 500 as he has started rabbit hunting. It was a 20 Ga and had the 18" brl so I called Mossberg and purchased a 24" brl with 3 screw in choke tubes. Cost me 250.00 for all of it. I think the brl was 180.00. I am sure they would have a 14" if you want one for your Shockwave.

I shot my Mosey 12 Ga with the pistol grip, and my old arthritic wrist hurt for days. Can't take the shorty guns any longer, but you enjoy. Yes, that should make a good addition to your house gun battery.

I have the 12 gauge with a 14" barrel.  I did a Form 1 to turn it into a SBS with a youth stock.  I run the mini shells, bird shot, buck shot and slugs, in the gun to reduce recoil and increase capacity.  If something calls for more than the mini shells will provide, that's what I have the bif brother 590A1 for.

The only reason I did not warm up to Remington versus Mossberg is because of the safety location.

I shot a friends 500 with 20" barrel and a pistol grip with 2 3/4" shell and it was a good kick. He wanted to try a 3" magnum load and I had some so I loaded him  up and he decided that was the one and only shell that size he would shot and I passed.

I've had 3" turkey loads knock me backwards while kneeling before. (I was in an odd stance because of where the turkey came in from.)  I don't want that kind of power without a stock.  Yes, I did get that turkey.
