Been looking the last couple of months for a replacement deer rifle after my M1917 Eddystone got stolen. Was heavily considering a 721 Remington and then found a scoped 1903 that wasn’t the prettiest, but got a helluva deal on.

Was in my hometown today for my sons birthday at grandmas and found the one I’ve been looking for.

Pre-64 Model 70 Super Grade in 30-06... priced at $350. Needless to say, that’s one less they have to sell this year .

That's a friggin pre 64! It has been dinked with and refinished, but still......wow!

I can't wait to hear how it shoots. I've yet to have a model 70 that wasn't scary accurate.

You paid for half the floorplate.

The gray is just a pad on the cheekrest. Self adhered, sort of like weatherstripping material.

Guy knew his pistols. He Didn’t even know it was a pre-64 until I started questioning the bolt and looked up the serial

Hope you kissed him lol, its a rare day to get a deal like that. evidently he wasn't hurt on the deal so he must've had it awhile .

Ran across a Bausch and Lomb 4-12x40 Balvar to sit atop it. 2 months and I’ve still not sent the first round down the pipe.

This actually ended up getting a Leupold Vari-X III 3.5-10x40.   Still have yet to fire it. It will make its appearance for TN Deer this year if not for CO Elk sooner.
