Boy Scout pocket knife

Recommended Posts

So. I was changing out a switch under the dash of my truck that was formerly my deceased grandfather's. I found an old boy scout knife under the seat. It is pretty corroded but I was wondering how to clean it up? Ill post pics later this evening after we go out to dinner.

I think I would start off by soaking it in Mil-Tec, CLP. In the old days fuel oil and kerosene both did wonders. Maybe one of the knife forums could give some advise.

I know from some of my old knives, the type of steel has a lot to do with it.

Wow, what a great find! - Congrats!

The bloody handprint behind the knife in the last two picts is a nice touch!

+1 on R1100R's sugestions... WD40 will work, too. Might try a 0000 fine steel wool on the tough spots. (test an area to preview results!!)
