Man, I don't miss California

Especially the swarms of earthquakes, lol. If it were geologically possible, I'd be cheering for CA to break off and sink. I would even settle for a compromise....think if just Hollywood and Burbank were wiped off the map....

One can dream.😇

A couple structure fires, a collapsed building and canned goods everywhere.....Gov. Newsom issue state of emergency at it's highest level and immediately request Fed funding. Psshhh.

I'd tell them to use the money they haven't paid back for the cancelled high speed rail system

As much as we joke about earthquakes hitting California and it sliding off into the Pacific, I would be happy if they never suffered another one.

Every time there’s an earthquake in California someone decides to move East. I don’t want them to move East, I want them to stay right where they are.

I love California. It’s a beautiful state with pretty much every type of terrain all within just a few hours of you, wherever you are in the state.

It’s the voters that are the problem.

Cannot disagree. From my old home I could go riding in the desert, skiing or hit beach. All a day trip away.

I left not because of the quakes, but political enviro getting ever worse... my district was split and votes negated (gerrymander). But the nail in the coffin was when water wells in my valley started drying up, including mine. I had near by neighbors have to re drill and go more than 1000ft! As soon as that issue hit me, I was looking at a map.

@Johnny Rotten Mountain community east of San Diego called Jamul (Ha-mool)

I lived in South San Diego for 12 years then moved up to Temecula.  I have ridden through and around Jamul many times. Stopped at the Delzura Café for the fish fry as often as I could. :)

@buck1032 Awesome! I do miss the occasional ride out old 94 to the cafe all you can eat fish fry. Salad drowning in house dressing, beans that are so so, rice pilaf stuff that was edible, and of course the fish. I did most of my growing up out in those mountains. Still have my first pellet gun that took many rabbits and squirrels in those hills.

It's a miracle I was never a vehicular casualty out on 94 with as much as I've traveled it.

Thanks for chiming in. Brought a smile to my face, literally.

Lets not forget the jumbo frog legs. :) I loved riding the 94, yes a dangerous road, but fun on the motorcycle. In the late 80's it was on a Yamaha Virago, in the 90's on an Ironhead Sporty and in the 00's on a Springer Softail.

Agreed. San Diego is one of my favorite cities. The weather is some of the best in the country. Loved Oceanside too. If it wasn't so screwed up I would love to live there. If you ask a lot of Californians, most agree it's a nightmare politically but they still love it. Rightfully so.

Because when you click on "Share" in Flicker and it shows you a link, there is also a tab at the top that says "BBCode" you need that. Under that it even lets you pick a size. I picked 800X450.

Then it put that "Maico by Johnny Rotten, on Flickr" out to the side of the pic and I had to insert my cursor in front of that and hit ENTER to get it below the pic where it belongs.

IMGUR is the cleanest, easiest to use right now; IMO. For forum pictures.

Having been born and raised in the SD area, I'm sure I take a lot of it for granted. But personally I think TN is far prettier. The only vibrant green you see in CA is peoples lawns, and that's getting regulated out of existence....front yards started looking like you were driving through Tucson. TN is not nearly as diverse in terrain, true. But I never much cared for the ocean. I could ski and snow board, but it wasn't really my thing. While there are good memories and still a fondness for some of the old haunts, I feel far more at home/ease here than I did in the last 10 or 12 yrs of living in Cali. I also spent time in AZ, TX and WA. TN is my favorite. I do love the panhandle of Idaho too. But I elected to stay below a certain latitude for winter weather reasons.

If CA became a sane state again tomorrow, I would not move back. I like y'all. Love this state. I even dropped sports teams. I route for the Vols. NFL can suck it as far as I'm concerned.

OMG, San Diego Stadium 1981....man, just barely. I think it changed to Jack Murphy Stadium in 81 or 82. I always knew it as "The Murph". Even after it changed to "The Q" (Qualcomm).

Gosh, that pic is just a couple years before Ricky Johnson exploded in the racing scene.

Memories.

I went though Boot camp and Navy Machinist Class “A” school in San Diego in 71/72. Lot of good memories. Like parties at Sunset Cliffs.

From about 94-98 I used to go to Brea 4 times a year to teach training classes on EDM. I remember one day the guys didn’t come back from lunch. I asked our regional manager where they were. They are back there looking out the back door. I asked “Why?” and he said “Well Dave, it’s raining.” ;)

They moved to CO in the 90's, not just due to the quakes, and ruined it. We escaped to TN later on. I agree that the state is not the problem.
