Anybody built Sten from scrap steel?

I was wondering if anybody had ever built a Sten from just scrap steel? I was thinking about trying this. The prints I've found online are not very clear on dimensions. Most prints show the Sten being crudely built.

Stens are open bolt sheet metal guns. You wouldn't have to be real handy to produce something that would get you in serious trouble. If you were trying to produce a semi auto the bolt would be your biggest hurdle. The receiver tube is round and you would need a pretty good lathe  or pipe threader to thread it.

STENS were fairly crude. I was fortunate to get to play with one about 25 years ago and it was a blast, literially.  But the fit and finish are all war time with minimal sights.  the rear side was basically a L-shaped piece of steel with a hole cut in it in and then tack welded to the steel round reciever.  The front sight, as I remember it was made the same, with the top side cut into a V. Seems like it was tack welded onto the receiver as well.  The only safety was pulling the bolt back and then turning it about 15 degrees, so that the charging handle slid into a notch, cut into a receiver.  The finish looked like it was painted on with a used brush. Very crudely made, but it ran like a singer sewing machine!!!

Just remember that there may be legal ramifications to producing one.

Yeah they're not a work of art. Crudely made and produced quickly. The videos I see online mostly are done by guys in their garages and small shops. Using files, dremmels , and drill presses, etc.
