Hiking during Turkey Season

Well my son and I want to go backpacking the weekend of Easter April 9 - 12, which is also Turkey Season in Tennessee.

My question is for all you hunters out there is, which Tennessee State Parks in West Tennessee is hunting NOT allowed ?

Or do you all know any other good places within about 2 hours of Memphis to backpack during that weekend where there wont be any hunters ?

My advise is to wear blaze orange. A lot of it.

Check with LBL. They have miles and miles of hiking trails, and more "backwoods" camping than you can imagine. I hunt LBL, but I'm not sure if there is any turkey hunting that weekend or not. Check this website: www.lbl.org I hope this helps you out my friend. Me and my goats will be out around that time too for some hiking and camping. Maybe we'll meet on the trail.

I'd still wear Blaze Orange even if it was a no hunting area, not worth getting shot over someone not knowing the Regs.

It all depends on what state park you go to. Check this, maybe it will help...Tennessee State Parks

I have always hiked in State Parks, National Forests, and other areas even during hunting season and have thus far never had any issues. Although I do try to wear, at the very least, some orange.....usually in the form of a hat or other Tennessee Football apparel.....another reason to be a fan; double duty of clothes.

I only shoot at hikers wearing TN VOL shirts/hats.
