In 2007, Venezuela completed the purchase of 100,000 AKs for 34,000 soldiers and 23,000 national guard.

They then ordered 5000 sniper rifles.

And here is a view of today

When progs, libs, and Dems scream about Tyrant Trump and dictatorship, my response is:

"Shouldn't you be armed? We have the 2A to protect ourselves from oppressive government."

and yet the young ones in this country are leaning left to a Socialist .gov. All because schools have gone left, and that is the fault of the adults that allowed it to happen. I am not pointing a finger at anyone. I do look in the mirror and ask if I should have, or could do more.

I spent a little time about a week or so ago talking with a couple young people just fresh out of college and leaning a little left and we got on the subject of guns and I was kind of shocked at their replies to a few of my questions. They lean left in public when they are in a crowd of people but behind the scenes they are not anti-gun at all and they all own one or more and were raised up in a home where firearms were a part of their lives. So that now has me wondering just how many of these Socialist protesters are really ready to support what is on their posters when it's crunch time. Recently it has been said that even Nancy Pelosi is not really anti 2nd Amendment and yes she owns a gun or two.

In talking with these young people they said it is only certain professors that talk politics in their classes but most of them stay focused on the course they are paid to teach. So now who do you believe is the question?

Not my young ones.

I have a LOT of college experience, and the ones who get political tend to be the Liberal Arts Professors.

EDIT: In particular, Sociology Professors.

About 100,000,000 millennials and Gen y can vote in 2020.

To fight their social justice battles, they are giving their power to .gov to fight

What they don't realize is their elected servants of a strong central .gov are corruptible or already corrupted.

What may actually save us: apparently Gen Y has little trust in the media, big business or government.

I believe both Erik88 and BTR posted of good college experience personally and what they observed.

Perhaps the right wing media is picking a small percentage of academia to promote an agenda?

I source my news from right and left to make an informed decision. I rarely ingest my news from television.

Generally ingesting television gives me heartburn...

I have a friend who's kid is at UNC. They luckily were not involved in the shooting. He thinks based on discussions that several people they know there are leaning more towards getting their hcp instead of protesting for more laws. Now that is just a few. Hopefully more young people begin to balance their right and responsibility to protect themselves with the laws that allow us punish those that do harm. I never met a law that stopped a moving bullet.

I think you nailed it A.J. People are being manipulated. I've refrained from posting in the other "socialism" thread but I really believe the media is only trying to sell stories and divide us. I'm 31 years old now. I know a lot of younger people from 21-35. I have friends in San Diego, Portland OR, Orlando, Omaha and places in between. In all my years meeting people my age I have never met anyone who advocated for socialism. I would say I have an equal amount of friends that lean right and left.

This idea that all young people are hoping to overthrow capitalism is simply not true. I really wish people would stop lumping us all into buckets. Now, I have heard people complain about the need for affordable healthcare and I happen to agree with them. Does that mean I want to live in a socialistic society? No. But I also don't believe that all forms of socialism are horrible. In my recent tour of Europe I can tell you the people seem to be doing just fine. They were happy, healthy(you literally couldn't find an overweight person), and seemed to be going about their lives just like us. They just pay an assload more in taxes. If you really think about it, we're either going to pay more for healthcare by having our employer suck it out of our paycheck or having the government collect more in taxes. I find it very hypocritical that the same people complaining about socialism have no problem using medicare. You can bet your ass that if the gub'ment suddenly offered medicare for all, the same folks rallying against it would be signing up the next week.

Going back to the academia point. I can only speak to my time at Pellissippi State and UTK. I'm not denying that the professors are largely liberal. But the idea that they are shoving that agenda down our throats, or brainwashing us, is simply not true. In my 4 years I can only remember one time when politics came up and it was when TN was considering allowing guns on campus. Of course they complained.

I would really encourage some of our older crowd to actually have some conversations with younger people and stop believing everything you read on The Blaze.

It does not take very much time for the money to disappear. I really think they waste more than enough to keep everything running the problem is what it goes for does not improve anything. Don't drink the Kool-Aid

Unfortunately Erik, there are more of "them" than there are of you.

The great news is you, BTR, and my son are superstars amongst your peer group.

Regarding the health care topic, .gov doesn't really do a good job managing much of anything, .gov programs always cost more than estimated, and it adds lifetime and legacy benefits to .gov payroll (which was one of the causes for the GM bankruptcy)

Regarding Medicare, you are automatically enrolled upon your retirement date.

I personally paid an assload of income  tax alone last year and didn't reach the $250k millionaire threshold, so not particularly interested in paying more.

You're right about the automatic part.  I have Tricare, and at a certain age, I will be forced to enroll in medicare and change my Tricare prime to Tricare for Life, and the premiums go up.

Spot on comment. If Medicare is so great then I want the politicians to be the first to have their plans cancelled. I'm coming up on having to enroll at 65 and have some studying to do on it so at 31 I doubt Eric that you know much about Medicare either. It seems to me that the offer of loan forgiveness is the driving appeal to the college crowd to vote Democrat.

I believe most of the less conservative millennials on the forum worked, saved, sacrificed, or have minimal student loans.

Aside from auto enrollment and what it looks like in 14 years (my case) and 34 for Erik, the real concern should be cost and who pays.

Supposedly, universal healthcare in the US would run about 16% of GDP. In countries with socialized medicine, its about 9%. This info is from an NPR report a few years back.

Not a true comparison.

Reduce the profit margins for pharma, health care and providers, pay no attention to the impact on the economy, quality of service, or innovation in medicine, and we are go to go.
