WORKS as tested!

The rest of the story. Got the welder to my sons house, wired up the supply power. Used jumper cables for ground and stick lead. Used a coat hanger for a stick and the machine welded with 35 amps on the input line from the breaker panal.

Still have to get a proper ground lead, argon gas bottle, and some TIG componats to do a proper TIG test. I want to thank Terry for the gift of the welder.

We had 10 ft cables give to us. But no way to hook them to the welder so I went and bought connectors, and it will weld with stick. Going to be a few days, need to get some argon, and then on to the tig test. The water cooler for the TIG does work.

More on the free welder.

Tested the TIG function as "scratch" start and that worked well, but we have to turn the gas on and off by hand with the tank valve. After rereading the notes that the past owner made we guessed that he had replaced the bad board. We used the peddle pig tale switch wires to try the board TIG function, and the spark gap system worked, (scared my son as he was sitting right next to it). The spark is a sign the high frequency is working and will jump a gap and start the arc for the TIG to work.

We have picked up a 10K Potentiometer(same that is in the factory peddle) with on/off switch. Wired this to the TIG peddle pig tale. We worked the "POT/SWITCH" by hand and the machine will TIG as it should.

I thank Terry again for the welder.

This is a good example of what we can do as a group. Terry gave you the welder he did not need. You guys got it all back up and running to use for your projects.. I learned more about the operation of a welder than I already knew, which admittedly was very little.

Glad to see this worked out.
