Need to re-stock .30cal carbine.

2 options, same price, PPU or S&B?

Have had excellent results with PPU.

Also curious about Geco 9mm or a "cleaner" brand than WWB 124 NATO from WM.

Burned through over 1200 rounds, no issues though it seems to leave a lot of residue and brass filings.

Not particularly brand loyal with most 115/124 available for less than $.20/rouund.

While I don't have experience in .30 cal, I do like PPU and I've had good experiences with S&B in 9mm. As a handloader I find the S&B to have really tight primer pockets. But if you don't plan to reload them it's a nonissue. 

I went through about 1K of Blazer Brass 9mm last year when I borrowed Jericho's RMR'd G19 to see if I wanted to go that route (I did!).  I found the Blazer Brass to be fine ammo and noted minimal residue issues.

I don't know the current state of aluminum cased Blazer, but I've run it through quite a few high round classes back over 10 years ago.

OK...I'll probably be labeled a heretic, but I run several thousand rounds of Tula and Wolf in both 9mm and 45 acp. While somewhat odoriferous and it does leave a bit of residue, I found it to be quite accurate and very reliable.

I've also not tried the current Geco but I've had positive experiences with the BAT round they once exported.

I look forward to hearing other's experiences and to what you learn my friend.

If I was in the need for .30 Carbine right now I would seriously consider the Fiocchi at $14.95/box (case price) from SGAMMO.

While not a reloader, my loss I know, but can't be helped now. I would like to comment on these brands mentioned.

Guys, I am in total agreement on them! PPU is my fav ball round for my 380 family. Seems a bit hotter than other brands, and I find it very accurate in my Ruger.

As far as S&B, I started using it in several 1911s some years ago and now I have several cases stockpiled. Good, clean, and my 1911s do well with it.

Also very, very fond of the S&B 124gr 9mm. I started using that when I bought my first Shield purchase. I found that it cured my early cycling issues with the Shield. Again, a hotter round, and I have converted to using it in all my 9s.

Blazer, I find more than adequate in terms of cost, reliability, and clean. Both in aluminum and brass case. 

  I have too little experience with Geco to give an assessment. However, I do like what I have shot.

I haven’t used 30 Carbine in either of those brands, but I have used Aguila and A-Merc in an M1 Carbine. I had a few boxes of A-Merc and it performed terrible; multiple jams in every mag full. I switched to Aguila I got from CMP and never had another problem.

How about a 5.56 in 55 or 62 for a 1/9 barrel - M&P Sport II

I've recently run about 1500 rounds of the Geco 124gr 9mm through my Sterling SMG and several pistols.  It was clean, consistent, NATO spec ammo.  I highly recommend it.
