In 9mm It's basically just a 9mm +P load. Probably the same for any other caliber.

About 10% more pressure than a standard 9mm round.

What is the good or bad about these "NATO" loads?

Any help is appreciated.

Generally when you see NATO; it’s a FMJ round. I say generally because while not required by the NATO standard; it’s required for combat ammo.

Nothing wrong with it in most modern firearms; just like with +P check with the manufacturer of your firearm.

Personal opinion here. I started using NATO 124 in my first Shield. Love it, and use it now in all my 9s. Yes hotter, but solved the cycling issues in my Shield.

Is this considered just range ammo or carry?

I wouldn’t use FMJ for carry in a 9MM.

Good reliable ammo, most NATO spec stuff has a bullet and primer sealant that is good for long term storage. This stuff will exit 3 or 4 zombies and shoot through both sides of a car door

I forget exactly where or how much I paid, but several months ago I found this ammo on sale at a very good price and bought 1000 rounds. Its mil-spec NATO issue ammo. I'm using it just for range ammo, but so far its been excellent.

I use the NATO ammo in my Canik SFX for USPSA matches.  It's surprisingly accurate, but has a "thump" to it.  My Canik is fitted with a muzzle brake and needs the extra oomph.  Only downside for me is it is extremely dirty.  After every range session or match I have to literally scrub the feed ramp to get the carbon off of it and the internal parts get rather sooty.  However, given the cheap cost and accuracy in my gun, I'm willing to donate a little elbow grease.

I do, in my M11A1. I'll worry about liability after the fact.

For me, its not an issue of liability. This thread is the Good/Bad of NATO rounds. In my opinion the good is they are usually FMJ which makes them cheaper for range use, the bad is they aren’t a good choice for a self-defense round.

I've shot 1500-2000 rounds of this stuff since September 2018.

Reliable.

Not sure if it's dirtier than other range ammo, I routinely clean after shooting.
