I am in the market for a Garand and wondered if anyone had seen any sitting in shops around Crossville/ Cookeville area that are Rack or Field grade condition. Thanks for any heads up!

S&R Guns in Cookeville usually has one or two on the shelf. Haven’t been there in a few weeks but they might be worth a look if you are in the area.

If S&R doesn't work out check out the Sparta gun show coming up in May. Thats a kind of a long wait but, you will usually see a few Garands there.

There is actually one coming up in Sparta this weekend I believe, Lebanon too. If I am in town I will probably check out the Sparta show at some point. In my past experience there hasn’t been much C&R stuff at it but you never know!

Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP). Absolutely the best deal on a Garand going.

Get your paperwork in order and make a little road trip down to the CMP South Store in Aniston, AL and pick out your own. That's what I did for my first M1 back in 2007. Its well worth the trip. :D

According to the web site they have Field Grades for $650 and Service Grades for $750. Wouldn't be a bad idea to call and see what they currently have in the store. ;)

Was just there 3/8.  Most of the Philippine rifles are becoming CMP Specials because of the termites in the wood.  Lots of those in the racks.  A Special will have new wood, be refinished, and have a brand new match-grade barrel.  Worth the money if you are going to shoot it.

They have space for 100 rifles at a time in the store, and keep the racks pretty full.  If you have a special desire, ask very nicely, and they aren't busy, they might look behind the counter.

The range had about 40 IHC and WRA rifles for sale at $1050 and up.

Match grade -06 ammo is on sale for $67.50/100rds.  Very accurate ammo!

Check the store schedule and inventory before you make a trip to Aniston.  It will be worth the trip!

Theres a video on youtube(at least there was) of them getting the Phillipines Garands. Some were petty rough. The roof leaked where they were stored and some were in bad shape.
