Bill introduced to create 'enhanced' handgun carry permits

If this passes, it will cause lose of reciprocity with other states, due to the decreased training requirement.

And I'm against it because of this.

If the legislature wants to do something, pass constitutional carry.

100% agreed. The legislature should be striving to simplify, not complicate.

If what will become the enhanced carry permit does not reduce carry restrictions (legal school carry, removing no gun sign weapons crime), then having two handgun carry permits is a total waste in my opinion.  This is nothing but a joke for the legislators to look like they are doing something pro gun but in reality not do anything pro gun that actually gives people more carry rights.  If the NRA is behind this VS spending time on cutting handgun carry permit location restrictions and Constitutional carry, I'm disappointed.

Prexactly. That’s what I’ve been saying when all these issues are being argued about signs, etc. Or someone posts that we need a law like… (fill in with the name of some state that isn’t Constitutional Carry)

But it is usually explained to me that we need to take “Baby steps”. :)

Our Baby Step time is over and we don’t need to copy some other states law; we just need Constitutional Carry.

Our state legislators just don’t want to acknowledge a right to bear arms. My guess is that is because of the tourist and convention business. Nashville makes a lot of money off conventions.

I've been dragging my feet getting a TN permit, I wonder should I wait a bit now and see what happens?

If you live in Tennessee and want to carry it’s kind of expected for you to get one.

Just wondering is it going to be less expensive and quicker to obtain soon.

Not if you want the permission slip with the least restrictions
