Cleaning Remington Nylon 66

I just got my hands on a Remington Nylon 66 and it is in desperate need of cleaning. I normally use Breakfree CLP but wasn’t sure if there were any issues with it and the nylon stock. If anyone has experience with this or other cleaning solvents I would appreciate you sharing them.

i highly doubt it, but my dad always used regular solvent and REMoil to clean his. from the research i did the nylon stock is like a synthetic stock, nothing hurts it and it was developed to combat wood stocks rotting. ive been told by older men that remington made the stock because the wooden stocks were rotting on the army rifles in vietnam, but i dont know. anyways its a synthetic stock, only thing that might get hurt is the gloss finish

I think my dad used to clean it with gasoline and I don't know what kind of oil so I think it will be okay but since it is kind of an heirloom I don't want to take a chance.

Remington chose the nylon for price verses performance and because they were part of Dupont at the time. They are not terribly hard to disassemble completely if you want to. Pull the tubular mag out of the stock then its just 2 pins and pull the bolt handle out the side. The reciever will slid up and off and the bolt assembly will all slide out.
