Will a standard Colt 1911 .45 ACP plunger and guide rod work in the .22 conversion kit?

Thanks,                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     Bill

No. The conversion kit is set up to handle the .22 round. I assume the kit just replaces the slide assembly on the 1911.

A 1911 .22 Conversion kit is a complete top end. Slide, barrel, recoil spring and guide. It changes the gun to a straight blowback system like most other .22 semi-autos.

Years ago I got a great deal on a Ciener Platinum cup unit. I liked it so much that I built up a frame to mount it on permanently.  Its one of my favorite 1911s.

BTW: a few months ago I picked up a barely used .22 conversion for my Sig P226. I'm having a lot of fun with it.  ;)

I’ve used the Colt conversion kit (think Colt Ace) and a Kimber version unit both on dedicated Colt and Kimber frames respectively.  I didn’t like either.  I would love to try a Ceiner.

Colt had to be meticulously cleaned every 50rnds or so as carbon built upon in the action because of the design. The Kimber - too light and jams frequently unless using CCI MIni mags.

I’ve kinda lost interest in the Kimber because it is so dang light.

Couldn't agree more on the Kimber .22 conv kit, had one for about a month and never made it through an entire mag without it jamming unless using CCI Velocitors. Got rid of it
