Memphis Gun Show?

I was in the line at 9:00 a.m. to go through the doors, and I stayed longer than I expected...I didn't leave until 3:15. The wild thing is, there was STILL a line (as in the photo above) of people waiting to get in as I was leaving!!!!

I was looking for some surplus .30-06 ammo for my Garand. I had priced it on Ammo to Go at $129 for 240 rounds, (before shipping), but I found it for $100 bucks at the show. I was also looking for an M1 Garand bandoleer belt, and they usually can be found online for between $29 and $39 (at least for the kind I wanted). I got it for $30 at the show. I didn't really save much on the belt, but I didn't have to pay to have it shipped either.

So, the trip was worthwhile for me....

There was an ammo and ammo can feeding frenzy at one table. This morning it was well stocked, when I left at 2pm there was almost nothing left. I bought a galco 1911 paddle holster for $10 but nothing else. There was a guy that had a DPMS upper with B/C and CH for $650 that I almost bought.

I will be going in the am. I am looking for a holster for my Smith model 19, and I want my wife to look over some pistols and consider giving up the Bersa .380 and go to a 9mm.

Just keep in mind that most tables are VERY proud of their selection and quite a few are using 4473's w/ TICS.

Not much reason to buy there unless you find a good surplus rifle, imo.

Yeah, I am just going to let her "test drive" a few, we will definitely buy/order one with one of our local guys.

I did stop back by on my way home from work to try and haggle some ammo deals. I was able to get the price below reasonable on 7.62x39 and 54R. The posted prices on most everything else were laughable.

There was nothing there for my wife to "test Drive". They didn't have many firearms in the size she is looking for.

I bought a leather (slightly used) speed loader pouch for $5.95, but they were out of the speed loaders for my model 19. I couldn't find a holster I liked for my model 19 either.

We did get my wife signed up for the NRA while there. It was a great deal $25 dollar sign up, a free (cheap) NRA hat, and a coupon for $10 back at the door, (we got one of our entrance fees back). That was cool I thought.

I spent a little bit of time talking to the guy that was there from the John Birch Society.

Thats was about it.

Overall I thought it pretty much sucked. Way too crowded, I could barely get to the tables to look, and when I did there were no deals. One table had 500 rounds of 9mm FMJ they were asking $120 - WTF? I can get a box of 550 at WallWorld for $75. I also saw an AK at one table for $1500, a semi-auto SCAR for $6,000, and a Chinese SKS for $350.

I ended up buying a UTG Tactical combat light for my AR and got the hell out of there...
