Kids and Guns: A positive Article

Pretty good article. Both of my older grand children, age 12 and 15 compete in 4-H competitions and are capable of putting venison on the table also. The 15 year old is my only grand daughter. It is very simple, teach them when they are young, whether it be the Bible or gun safety and they will not depart from it. It was driven into my head at an early age, started hunting by myself at 9, but dad knew I was safe and I knew there would have been some severe consequences if I had been unsafe with a gun. I am retired now, and I like to fish, and hunt, but there is something unique about going out and shooting clays or shooting targets with a pistol. Nothing compares it to me. The smell of gunpowder and the satisfaction that I can cut a card with a pistol of rifle some of time anyways is very enjoyable. Take a kid shooting, teach them gun safety, if you don't have a kid or grand kid nearby, find a single mom or a family that doesn't have the time or desire to shoot. I think all kids should at least have a chance to learn how to safely shoot and then let them decide if they want to continue. Just like I did with my son for sports, I told him I would support him and pay for the equipment as long as he wanted to and had fun. I hate to see parents push their kids into sports for their own ego.
