Powder for reduced muzzle flash AR pistol

Hi guys, does anyone reload for AR pistol 5.56? I am looking something with as little muzzle flash as possible. I use IMR-4895 and it is pretty bright out of 10.5 inch barrel. Any comments appreciated. Thanks Mac

Honestly I think just about anything you cook up in 5.56x45 is gonna be pretty bright out of a barrel that short. Maybe a combo of reduced load with a better flash suppressor...

Well I shot it in indoor range over the holidays and had some plinking stuff, and there were some that had hardly any flash, but most had large flamethrower flashes. I don't know what the ammo that had much flash were, maybe some a friend had loaded or?? So I do know that there is some powder with little flash. Thanks for comments. Mac

Maybe try a faster burning powder. Burns in the barrel before it exits. Like using fast burning powder in short barrel revolvers.

Hey guys just saw this from shot show news. ARM American Reserve Munitions out of Idaho is going to be releasing soon a Stealth brand gunpowder with reduced muzzle flash. So my search may be over when they get this out. Thought I would pass the info along.

Really sounds like a job for Quickload. Try Hogdon H4227. I would start about 18 grains. The bullet in this run was a 55 grain FMJ Boat tail. Note the amount of propellant burnt is 99%.

The required powder is gonna change by bullet weight. Other brands of powder probably exist too. Gimme more info and I'll run it down for you. Quickload has all the shelf brands/types of powder. Just no canister stuff
