Frustration with on-line ammo dealers - just a rant, fyi

Over the last 3 months I've tried to order from 5 of the recommended on-line ammo dealers. Yet to receive an order from any of 'em. Either they have nothing in stock anyone wants, or the indicate they're out and when you get on the notify-when-in-stock email list and get the notification that what you want is in stock, it ain't there when you try and order it; or worse, you place the order, get a confirmation and then a week later get a notification that what you ordered is out-of-stock and get offered substitutions - in the latter case, when I went to the website to compare the subs., the item wasn't even listed as something they carry.

So far I've been relegated to buying range ammo from WM and last week broke down and bought a box of Golden Saber at Bass Pro. I've just about given up on web ammo dealers.

Georgia Arms claims to still be way behind on shipping, but they WILL get it to you.

Since you mentioned Golden Saber, dunno which caliber you're talking, but besides their "Canned Heat" target loads, Georgia Arms also has bulk lots of hollow point ammo. In 9mm, they even have 3 different weights and in regular or +p. Think I'm gonna go ahead and order 1,000 rounds of 9mm 124gr +p from them.

I also ordered 1,000 rounds of UMC from Cabela's back during the height of the frenzy in Dec (had kickback gift cards from my credit card to spend online). Anyway, even during that wild time, they got it to me in less than a week.

My father was telling me his friend was trying to order ammo from black hills. They told him he was welcome to order it, but the 9mm has a 6 month wait, and the .223 has a 1 year wait on it.

Try to place an order for PMags.

No doubt - I'm soooo glad I ordered 10 of them six months before I bought my AR!

I placed an order with them on the 17th. They billed me on the 21st. On the 26th I called to ask when it would ship. They said today. I called back on the 28th, they swore it would ship that day. Finally called and emailed on the 30th to ask why it hadn't shipped. Well I got an email today saying it had shipped.

Everyone is overwhelmed by this buying frenzy. I don't know when it is going to let up. But is irritating to say the least.

I've ordered thousands of rounds from Ammoman.com over the last several years and never had a problem. They update their site several times each day and I've never ordered something only to find that it was out of stock. They do a LOT of business and their stock rotates frequently so if there's something in particular that you want, check back often.

I've only ordered from ammunitiontogo once but was completely satisfied with their service.

Within the past month I've ordered from two different on line suppliers, 9mm Luger and 6.5-52R. Both received quickly.

I think your timing has to be right. In the past few weeks, I have ordered a spam can of 7.62 x 39, and two separate orders of 223. Two of my three orders arrived within 3 days. The third (from Aim Surplus) took about 2 weeks.

too expensive for me....but cheap compared to online dealers. i'm good on most things until I see a deal, or the frenzy lets up. The crazies will eventually run out of money

About 2 weeks ago I ordered 500 rounds of Federal Hydra-Shock .40S&W from Ammoman.com. Order arrived about 3 days after I placed it.

I believe it will be hit or miss when an online dealer gets stock in, it's usually gone before they can really post it as available online. I'm still lookin' for some 9mm hydra-shock.

I've always had good luck with Widener's and AIM. Turnaround was about three weeks on two large orders I made back in December. The time line they gave me was accurate.
