Hello everyone.

recently I have been looking at the 338 Federal.

I am curious if anyone has any experience with this round.

From the outside looking in it looks good?

Blessings

I've shot a decent bit of it - mostly out of a Savage Hog Hunter.

It's a nice round that packs quite a wallop.  I wouldn't say it's going to do anything more or less than any of the other big bore calibers that you've cycled through - at least not in practical application.

But, it's a fun round - with okay availability. And, it performs well in the field here in the South.

So, if it brings you some joy - go for it.

Of course, the contrarian position on this round is that if you're looking for this performance window - you ought to just go with a 30-06 and call it a day.

If you're going to shoot 180gr., it's probably an opinion worth considering.

If you want a big bore go ahead and bite the bullet and get a .375 H&H  😁

Truth.

And, if you're into that sort of thing, you can reasonably down load it to equivalent power of whatever...
