Hi all,

I have shot mine very little, but need to buy some ammo.

Is there a particular off the shelf .223/.556 that seems to be more accurate?

Thanks

AJ

I wish I could tell you, but I'm still experimenting myself. So far I've tried IMI 62 gr FMJ and American Eagle 55 gr FMJ.  Neither was very impressive.  I've got about 6 or 7 brands and weights on the shelf to try. But the weather and other things just aren't co-operating for a range day. :shake:  I'm thinking the heavier 75-77 gr bullets might be the answer. But can't prove it just yet.

I'm open to suggestions same as you.

I don't know the twist rate of your barrel my friend but I'll try and include a diagram that may help somewhat. Twist rates matter.

My ancient 16" Bushmaster Dissipator (from the days before RDS) has a 1:9 twist and definitely favors 55 gr bullets. I get stupid good results with 55 gr handloads using H335 powder.

I get reasonable and affordable accuracy from Wolf Gold 55 gr rounds. I'd be happy to give you a few boxes to try before you buy if you'd like AJ.

I've run a metric buttload of Wolf, Tula, Barnul, etc through it in classes and training.... while the accuracy is satisfactory for practice those steel cased rounds are still quite mediocre.

Jamie, when it warms up, I think I'll take you up on your offer!

Any time that works for you my friend. Just let me know.

It'd be good to hang out some and shoot the breeze as well.

Wolf Gold is Prvi Made isn't it?

No.  Wolf Gold .223 is made in Taiwan.  Very good stuff.
