Just curious...what benefit would a person get from having a NDCWP in Tennessee...especially if you never go to ND? I only ask because I saw where a TN gun trainer gives the test.

Same reason folks with a Tennessee HCP get non-resident permits from any other state that issues them (FL, UT, VA, NH, PA, ME, etc.)...........

redundancy, "insurance" while travelling, to add to "our" numbers for political/lobbying purposes, or "just 'cause I want it" :screwy:

As far as I can tell, your TN HCP is accepted in about as many states as any other credential. However, some folks still like the security or the warm fuzzies of having another card or two in their back pocket.

I have the PA and NH non-resident permits....doesn't get me any more states, but they didn't cost much and I just like having them. ;)

In the interest of full disclosure, we offer the ND test. Maybe the OP was referring to us ? And (more disclosure) it's not our top seller. :)

BUT, if you decide you want one...you know where we are.

You Betcha (tribute to North Dakota)

Oh...I admit I have thought about getting a few non-resident permits myself. Kind of as you said, if for no other reason but to have them.

But I know some folks in other states get non-resident permits from other states sometimes, becaue the non-resident permit is honored in more states than the permit of their state of residence. But I don't think that is the case in TN. But I guess there are other reasons as also stated.

I'm working on my ND CCP application right now for that very reason. Is there anywhere around Knoxville that administers the ND test?

Thanks for all the replies. You pretty much said what I was thinking.

Way back when I got my TN HCP, it wasn't accepted in as many states as it is now...back then it made sense to have a few other non-resident permits to add states to your list, but now we have reciprocity with a scad of other states. (I never got other states' permits, just my TN.)

So, if you have a TN HCP, what states would it benefit/add states to to have their non-resident permit?

I didn't see an advantage with ND either.

If you have a TN HCP there isn't a benefit state-wise. I have CCP's from ME and NH, so it'll help me out a little more.

Wow, you can carry in part of the Northeastern bloc?

With a TN permit you can carry in NH, VT, DE and PA.

...and as we know ME issues non-resident permits if you ever plan on heading that way.

And some places down here too.

I know, I was just making a not very funny joke that the Maine NR Permit let him carry in one more state that's all red on the handgunlaw.us map.

Looks like Hixson will be the closest.................................
That's about 60-90 minutes from Knoxville, correct?
