Good read.

I have a Stainless MkIII. It's reliable and very accurate, but I'd rather take a punch to the gut as to have to clean it. It may be Ruger's engineering masterpiece, but it's a SOB to reassemble until you really get the hang of it.

Take the grips off and soak it in kerosene overnight. Swab it, blow it out, lube it and you are good to go. Do this only if the loaded chamber indicator is metal and not one of the newer plastic ones.

Don't laugh...I know a lot of people that do this with great success.
