Proud owner and faithful carrier of a Wilsoned-up Kimber Compact, series I, internal extractor. Mine is all steel, though.

Pretty much the exact opposite opinion of Deerslayer . . . :) Maybe I got lucky. :P:)

ive never owned a 1911 before, do the compacts used the same aftermarket parts as the fullsize? is there a way i could buy something like an magwell or a mag sleeve adapter to use full size mags?

Fullsize and Compact guns take different parts, dependent on frame size. "Full-size frames take X parts, compact frames take Y parts" kinda thing.

But yes, they do make sleeves, base-pads, and other stuff to allow you to use a full-size mag in a compact gun.

you got that right. I looove HK's. but recently i've been lusting for a 1911, i got a good deal on a trade today and ended up with a SS Colt National Match. haven't got to put any rounds through it yet. but it feels solid, the trigger pull is pretty crisp, the slide is as tight as a nun on the frame. :D

I have the Compact Custom and Compact Aluminum and both are "keepers" for me. I would pick up a Compact Aluminum Stainless if I had a chance.
