Seattle, suburbs would lose all water pressure within 24 hours of catastrophic earthquake and might take 2 months to fix.

For people who think it can't happen. Seattle's only study shows how bad it could be.  The article is quite long, but here is the link and first paragraph.

A new seismic analysis shows Seattle area residents could be without water for one to two months after a big quake, but SPU is keeping the entire report secret and releasing only a 13-page summary due to security concerns.

I've met several people in Seattle that made me suspect that they had already been going without shower water for a month or two. Never seen so many women with armpit hair as I did in the PNW.

Don't forget E TN is in a major fault area as well.  Wonder what us "hillbillies" would do in a major earthquake.

Yup.  This kind of "f'ed if it happens" scenario isn't confined to Seattle by any means.  A lot of fat and happy people are in for a change of lifestyle should a catastrophic event happening.

I would dare say a lot of people are no better off here at this point. I know a lot of coworkers that eat out almost every meal. In NE TN you see scores of condo and apartment complexes going up. That means people packed like sardines with no alternate heat or food prep options. Even if you have some supplies, it means you are surrounded by 100 people without.

Yep. And we've had a few small ones in the past few years.

We typically keep enough supplies to last for a couple weeks, but a couple months would put a major hurt on a lot of people. Thankfully, disaster response has improved tremendously in the fairly recent past. I wouldn't want to rely solely on being rescued, but it's good to know that help would likely come.

I've got family in JC and Kingsport, grew up in Jonesboro (pre "hysterical").  I'm amazed at the number of condo/apt complexes being built or have been built, along with all the related traffic.  Seems like no one works up there based on the traffic during the daytime.

I wouldn't know, I work all day. Lol

You have lots of students and people on 2nd or 3rd shift running around all day. And then of course your "disabled" but able to hit Wal-Mart 6 days a week crowd. Like some of our family.

My wife grew up in the area and we moved back in '99. Thongs have exploded since, both in good and bad ways.
