MPD Director wants to roll back guns in cars

First, the only time I leave my gun in my car, its secured in a lock box secured to the vehicle.  And then only for quick trips inside a place that i cant carry inside, never overnight.  I try hard NOT to patronize places that I cant carry, but they are not completely unavoidable.    I know that is not truly secure, but Im hoping its a long enough deterrent for those fairly brief trips.  As far as guns in cars goes,  I have many friends who are not 'gun' folks, and very few of them even know they can have a gun in their car without a HCP.  Most probably think you have to have a HCP, and the other few dont care either way.  I dont really think this law has all that much effect on whether or not most folks carry in their cars.  People who do this, do this, regardless.  How many folks do you know who have a 'truck or car' gun?

Just another way for the left to take away our rights!!! It is not about where the bad guys get their guns.

Ditto that one.  Go after the law abiding citizens and take them away a little at a time until they get them all.  It's always easier to go after the people trying to obey the law than going after those trying to break it.  Makes his job easier.

1) Anyone have a study that shows how many stolen guns went unreported in the past because people didn't have a permit?

2) Anyone have a study that shows there are more guns on the street because more are getting reported stolen?

I agree that common sense would indicate there are PROBABLY more guns on the street in the wrong hands but there is no proof.

The proof we might see is an uptick in guns used illegally in NYC and Chicago since so many of them end up there.
