Welcome to TGO! (I generally can't keep up with the new members forum)...

You've chosen a fine dependable shootin iron fer sure there...

Guess Knoxville is closest to you there in Rutledge...

Here's a user compiled onsite list of HCP schools to get you started looking:

I did mine at Coal Creek Armory, Saturdays only.

Very nice choice in the 27 Glock. I carry my 27 or 36 daily. If you would rather travel to Morristown than Knoxville, There is a shop called M&M firearms that offers the class.

I have bought 3 firearms there and they are good honest people. If your interested

I can get the number for you.

I will check out the Morristown store thanks! Also would the open carry not be frowned on by police? It seems to me it would cause people to panic or call the cops.

Sevier indoor range in sevierville I think its still $65, They usually have it 1-2 times per mo.

to each his own on the open carry. i carry open all the time and never get a second look. the debate on open versus concealed has been beat to death in this forum and every other forum on the internet. fact is if you dont mind the attention, you can open carry. if you want to avoid all suspicious looks, carry it concealed and keep it to yourself. concealed means just that so dont advertise.

and congrats on the G27. i have one and it is a fine shooting machine. get the +1 extension for it. it will help you hold on to the pistol a lot better.

Yeah, im looking to get the extension and it adds 2 extra shells on the 27 i think. I dont know what carry i will use but i will pick the most comfortable, i just don't want trouble.

I carry mine 8 out of 10 times out the door and yes you do want the plus 1 or 2 extension on it and you can get full sized clips as backups for more rounds. I also have one of the grip sleeves on mine really helps on the grip and feel and I mean a straight rubber sleeve not one with the finger grooves built in of course after that you have to have night sights and etc... have fun building your dream gun and you will want more than one holster so as to fit what you wear and mood you are in, it never ends like a woman and her purses. I would shoot and look all of the extras over and let it come to you as you go, the feel and gun will let you know what you need.

Safe shooting;)
