SI Training Day 11/3, some musings

Full disclosure, Randy is my friend.

Because I like his teaching style and course content, I am willing to travel and pay for training.

I also enjoyed the company and conversation, so while we got off schedule, I was satisfied with the instruction, corrected one problem (low right) and possibly identified the cause for problem 2 (slight right) when I got home.

Some practical take aways:

More dry work, 10 minutes, 2, 3 times per day.

When I switched to my P224 with flush mag, it was tragic. Odd grip to adjust to, fatter front sight, shorter sight radius. After a mag or two, got mostly on target, but for serious work, I've got to have the 12 round P229 mag for a full grip.

Being the slowest cat in class AND appearing even slower, having the pleasure of witnessing some Dark, Light, and dare I say, Turbo-level skill exhibited, made me think a little more tactically.

Specifically, I need a little more time if I have engage, do I have other options, including, paying attention and trying to evade or escape if the situation merits?

Gives me time and space, in the meantime, practice.

This particular class was skill assessment with preparation through dry work and basic warm up.

The timed drills were challenging and I thought pretty fun to shoot.

Hope everyone made it home safe!

Randy - happy early birthday!

A big congrats to all who came out !

I'm especially proud of all you guys who passed the old Air Marshal Qualification. That is not easy by any means and there is a reason that they dropped that one and went to the easier one...too many applicants couldn't pass it!

I've never had THAT MANY guys pass it at once. I'm super proud of the progress we are making with the training group !
