He was clearly a spammer.  They posted the exact same solicitation in about 15 different WTB ads within a couple of minutes.

I’d proceed with caution - they’re almost certainly a scammer.  They listed their location as TX.  The IP showed somewhere else.

He must have been fast.

I banned him with 10 minutes of joining.

Your email by itself isn’t worth much.  But, here’s a regular reminder to use a unique, strong password for email.  And, as most cloud email providers support MFA - use it.  It absolves us of a multitude of sins.

Dang. Good job. He got me, saying he had a P-01. I think it was via PM but maybe he responded to my thread, I don't remember. I barely paid attention when I saw that he was in Texas. I didn't immediately think spammer/scammer, but glad you caught him when you did.

MFA?

Yes.  Multifactor authentication.  Basically, this is the process where you need an app or a device (like a phone) each time you log in from a new device.  It means that to log in, you need something you have (the device) in addition to something you know (the password).

This protects you in a couple of ways.  First, since most of America uses the same password everywhere - if your password is compromised somewhere else, they can't simply log in.  Second, since people routinely fall for phishing messages and expose their password - again, you prevent the malicious actor from being able to log in.

They might have your username/password, but they need your device to log in from Nigeria or Bulgaria or wherever.

I really cannot recommend it enough for your mail, your financial accounts, and your social media.
