Tax stamp question

Hey everyone didn’t know where to post this, I just bought a stripped M39 receiver and want to put a M44 barrel on it but I am not sure if I need a tax stamp for a SBR or not can anyone clarify this?

No.  M44 barrels are around 20”.  Do you have something other in mind than putting together a rifle?

BTW, an M39 receiver is in fact a Mosin 91 receiver.  That’s who the Finns got them from, by force.

So who made your receiver?  Many of them are pre ‘98, as in 1898 and therefore antiques.

no idea it has to go through an ffl, i was going to post the link but they are now sold out

Finns scrubbed any marking there might be on the top of the receiver but usually left the ones under the tang alone.  You can usually tell by what is there.

In some cases, yes.  However, the majority of the receivers the Finns recycled into their rifles came from either weapons left by the Russian army upon their withdrawal from Finland during the Russian revolution, or by purchases of Russian arms from various European countries which had been either supplied by Russia prior to WWI or captured during that conflict.  Relatively few were taken by force by the Finns during the Winter war or the Continuation war ...

well i finally got it, however there is no date stamp any where on it and there is some numbers on it but none of them are the date, there is also an area on top where some was scrubbed off a long time ago, i will try to get some pictures later
