Thanks Wes! Same here!

For those interested, a brief summary of the proceedings:

The first annual TN Friends of NRA State Conference was held today in Nashville. Approximately 50 NRA members, supporters, Friends of NRA committee volunteers and NRA Foundation grant recipients gathered at the Holiday Inn Select to learn, network and brainstorm.

The event was broken into 3 major sections. First up was a series of presentations by various individuals and organizations affiliated with NRA Foundation activities or who were recipients of NRA Foundation grants. This included personnel from NRA HQ in Virginia. Informative and inspirational, this portion of the day culminated with a presentation by the Knox County Sheriff's Dept. of the "Eddie Eagle" kids gun safety program. We got to meet Eddie. Trivia: Eddie Eagle costumes are hot and expensive!

Next was lunch with an awards presentation. Various Friends of NRA committees were commended for their efforts in the 2006 banquet season.

The last portion of the program contained a choice of breakout sessions, one on grant writing and one on brainstorming regarding growing the Friends of NRA banquets statewide. Several areas of Tennessee were targeted for potential new dinners next year, including Tullahoma, Tri-Cities, and the Athens area.

Finally, the program closed with door prize drawings. Most people won stuff. I won a nice candle holder and managed to snag the grand prize -a pistol and some free training. I'm a happy camper.

The plan is to hold this event each year and grow it each year. A promising start.

Len,

It was good to meet you, and that's one heck of a write-up. Congrats on the win.

Great job Len. Was the training AND the Glock the grand prize?

Now you have a Glock to trade in on that 1911 :-)
