Xbox 360 woes

So, for some reason, my Xbox isn't outputting video or audio. It seems to be powering up normally (no RROD). I even tried to swap ports, and it didn't work.

Anyone else experienced this problem? Does anyone know of anywhere in the Nashville area that fixes 360's?

I would try a different audio/video cable. The xbox auto selects the video output upon boot.

If possible, try an hdmi cable as well.

Bummer. I've had 4 RROD in the last year. The warranty has really paid off!! I saw an ad on tv recently about Xbox repair here in Nashville but I cannot remember the details. Sorry...

Good call, I might see if I can pick one of those up.

Hmmm... I'll have to search around. I suppose I cant really complain, it's served me well, and it was one of the first ones to hit the market a few years back.

Just go to there website and get a repair request and under problem select three red rings and the repair will be free. They dont check the problem thet just put all new internals in the xbox thats what i did with mine when it would not read disc. You will lose your xbox for about a month but you will pay nothing out of pocket.

Even if your box is out of warranty?

My XBOX recently got the dreaded RROD. I called Microsoft and they sent me a pre-paid UPS box, and I shipped it off. I got it back within a week. So far, it is working perfectly. So far. :D

make sure that you didnt flip the switch on the cord from component to rca.

Ok, so I had talked to Microsoft and they were not willing to cover my box under warranty (it was manufactured in 05, and has worked perfectly since day 1). So, after scouring the internet for an hour or 2, I decided to try to fix it myself. I was planning on taking it apart later today, but I decided to try something before I did. It's called the "towel trick" and it's supposed to work for both RROD and the no video issue that I was having. Anywho, you wrap the xbox in 2 towels, and turn it on. Let it run for 20minutes (it will probably shut itself off due to the heat). Afterwards, wait 20-30min for it to cool. Then power back on. Worked like a charm for me! Apparently, it heats the solder on the GPU up enough to "correct itself". Surely it's only a temporary fix, but it saves me from having to open it up today! Time for some COD4...:screwy:

Be careful. I have read that the long term effects of the towel trick is frying your MB prematurely.

Yeah, I read that could happen if you do it over and over but, I figure next time I have a problem, I'll do the X-clamp removal mod.

I just got one section of red with a E74 error on my elite. I am just going to call them and see about sending it in.

Not like it mattered.. the ****ing thing didnt work and if it fries it then he will be no worse off.

Not exactly. The x-clamp fix is a heckuva lot cheaper than a new box.

My thoughts exactly.

I just got done playing for about 1.5hrs and so far, so good.

Hey Daniel, have you downloaded much stuff from the wii marketplace? I was wondering what they had in the way of N64 titles... Goldeneye, Shadows of the Empire?

from what i have seen without researching it to much.. goldeneye isnt going to happen. I saw a video off of youtube that shows the game converted but that they wont release it for some reason. We got it at xmas and I havent dled anything besides new songs to play on gh. I did look around on there though. I did not see shadows.

I love my wii as well.

I haven't downloaded much, just stuff like the Wii aquarium for my 3-year old.

I will probably play Ocarina of Time again at some point.

I own a PS3 and a Wii.

I would LOVE to have a 360 instead of the ps3, but as of Sept of 08 the failure rate on a 360 was 68%. Supposedly the new Jasper boards they're putting in them will be much better, but I cant bring myself to drop the coin on one still.
