Visited family in CA and that's one of the few things they have a leg up on us. Bottle of Glenfidditch is ~20 dollars there. Cousin drinks it like it's Taaka.

When I lived in TX you could buy white label Dickel cheaper than you can here and it is made here.

I agree with the above (and not because I'm a makers ambassador) but I would also recommend you guys try Colorado whiskey before the new owners and master distiller change the taste. I have found it a couple of stores around Knoxville and for $50-$60 it is reasonable.

We picked up a bottle of that late last year and still have a little bit left. I will make a note to pick up more the next time we're out.

Haven't had the 14 yr Caribbean...yet. But the 15 single and 17 are always on hand. Once every handful of years I buy a bottle of the 21. Hard to find something as smooth as The Balvenie...at least to me.

That's one of my favorites, don't wanna overdo that one though! I like it better at $37 (Frugal's) than the $45 it goes for in Bellevue.

This is my little collection of my favorite Tennessee sippin' whiskey. My mother had the cabinet made for my Christmas gift a few years ago. The barrel lid was my gift this year.

Here's a new one. I think this is aka Virginian Gentleman distillery. The talk is that its a Sazerac company. This one's a 7 year old. Oak and vanilla. Nice finish. A good sipper.

Somehow I missed this post but I've heard two other people comment on how good this is so I think it's going to be on my casual shopping list.

If you guys haven't tried the Prichard's Double Chocolate yet, you really need to. It's quickly become my and my wife's favorite sipping bourbon after a long day. Very smooth, very mellow, and just extremely good tasting.

We also picked up a bottle of 12 year old Redbreast single pot still Irish Whiskey last week and finally uncorked it on Saturday. Quite nice. I'm ashamed to say I really haven't given small-batch Irish Whiskeys a try having more or less been unimpressed with a few of the cheaper offerings in the past. Redbreast has definitely changed my opinion of that genre and I really enjoy the warm smoothness of the oven cured malt as compared to the sometimes overpowering smokiness of peat fire dried malt that comes with Scotch.

If you guys get a chance to sample some Redbreast anytime soon, I highly recommend it.

I'd look for the single barrel. The SB is fine but it needs no ice.

I tend more toward Scotch rather than bourbon and my new favorite is:

The Glenlivet Nadurra , 16 year old , 57.7 ABV , £40

Colour :Golden straw

Nose : Fragrant and vibrant, lots of vanilla, wood spice, and floral notes, on top of some honey and toasted oak and ripe bananas, from the 1st fill American oak casks used.

Palate: Viscous and oily on the tongue. Vanilla, Peppers, oak, and some fruits (peaches, apples) with a gingery edge.

Finish : Long and drying, with hints of Anise, bitter fruit pulps, and burnt sugar.

Redbreast is pretty good. Though it's the only Irish whiskey I've tried. I'd love to try Prichard's Double Chocolate but I can't for the life of me find it locally.

So I finally got around to picking up another bottle of the Bowman Brothers, This time I bought the single barrel. This one comes in at 100 proof. It's a much bigger bourbon than the small batch.

This one will probably become one I keep around.

I went to Brinkmann's Wine and Spirits in Franklin today to pick up a bottle of Dickel White Label. While I was drooling over the other whiskeys, the staff (possibly the owner or a manager) asked if I needed any help and offered me a sample of Angel's Envy and Eagle Rare 10 yr. They were both very smooth and have added them to my future purchase list!

Thanks to Brinkmann's for the great customer service! They definitely made a regular customer out of me.
