Fingerprinting ?

Just got back from getting finger printed. Why don't they just do this at your local police department? It seems like that would make more sense, to me anyway.

I liked doing it at my local UPS Store. In and out in like 5 minutes. Its all computerized, so its not like your fingerprints get to Nashville faster one way or another.

i liked the ups store because a very cute young lady was handling my hands and talking about how soft they were. think she was hitting on me.....said i had really soft hands.....

Why would they do it at the PD? They don't have a dog in the race, they are not getting any of the money from $115 fee to do the fingerprinting.

Back when I got mine they actually did the fingerprinting at the DOS station when you applied for your permit. Guess they decided it was too much trouble and was easier to sub it out.

Well I live in Manchester and had a choice to go to Winchester, Shelbyville, Columbia, or Fayetteville. So the police department would have been more convenient for me.

Edit-Looking at the map again, it looks like others have a further drive than I did. So i guess I shouldn't complain. Now all that's left to do is wait.

I understand....but actually it would be more convenient for all of us if you didn't even need a permit like in Vermont or Alaska.

Considering they frown upon us even carrying to a restaurant, that's a little much to ask.

as i understand it ,next saturday after my HCP class is over,I get my paper,Take it to Gallitian ,Im in Summner Co. at the DMV,get finger printed,pay $115.00,then go down the street to the sheriffs office to be finger printed again,then I go home and camp out by the mail box????

Thats after $100.00 just for the class,thats $215.00 in one day...

Why would you be fingerprinted twice? And you don't get fingerprinted at the "DMV", you have to go to a separate location, usually a UPS Store. You take your HCP class certificate, go to the driver's license station, fill out the app and pay your fee, then you go to wherever they tell you to get your fingerprints taken, and then you wait.
